Artist Research Residency at Amant Uruguay
The Artist Research Residency at Amant Uruguay welcomes practitioners in the arts and humanities for a one-month, research-oriented program in the seaside town of José Ignacio, Uruguay. Situated 3 miles from the village of José Ignacio and on the crest of the José Ignacio lagoon, the villas are enveloped by a landscape of natural beauty and ecological significance, with the lagoon itself designated as an Important Bird Area.
The program is self-directed and residents are invited to develop an ongoing research or creative project during their stay. While Amant does not offer direct production or research assistance, the program facilitates meaningful interaction among the residents and organizes visits to local cultural sites and institutions.
Held once a year in April, the residency provides each participant with round-trip economy travel to nearby airports, an independent villa, and a monthly stipend. Residents live in independent live-work spaces with access to a large studio building. Additionally, residents will have access to Tajamar, a communal house where various events and social gatherings will be held.
Residents are selected through an invitation-only process. We do not accept unsolicited applications.
