Amant New York Fall 2025 resident Aristotelis Nikolas Mochloulis invites you to hear him tell a joke.

During a brief period living in London, Mochloulis performed stand-up at open mic nights at comedy clubs. Since then, he has drawn on the forms tools — humor, autobiography, and live address — as a framework for the creation of other artwork. His current research touches on observational and monologic performance traditions, such as improv, experimental theater, and stand-up comedy, with a focus on their methodologies, their dependence on a live audience, and the histories of the venues in which they take place.

This program is part of the For Your Reference series, where our artists in residence share and discuss key references informing their ongoing research at Amant. Amant programs are always free. RSVPs are strongly encouraged. Doors for Aristotelis Nikolas Mochloulis Tells a Joke will open at 6:45pm on Wednesday, November 5 in Géza, located at 306 Maujer.

Aristotelis Nikolas Mochloulis is an artist, editor, and writer. He is the founder and editor of the PDF newsletter Holdings, organizes exhibitions in his apartment, and is a former member of Incest School.
