Azza El Siddique, Niloufar Emamifar, Tania Candiani, and Taylor Le Melle

In an intimate and informal gathering, we introduce to the New York arts community our fall 2021 cohort of artists-in-residence Azza El Siddique, Niloufar Emamifar, Tania Candiani, and Taylor Le Melle. This event is part of the Show, Tell, Toast public program series, which centers on 20-minute-long presentations by the New York Studio & Research residents. Artists share their current research or invite someone who has shaped their ongoing work.

This is an in-person event. Free and open to the public with a limited capacity of 70. Email confirmation is required the day prior to the event.

Azza El Siddique

Azza presents her current work on scent, specifically bukhoor, which she uses in sensorial installations. Participants are invited to engage with a variety of fragmented and assembled scents in order to explore one’s own personal relationship to scent as memory and emotion.

Niloufar Emamifar

Niloufar Emamifar is in conversation with Golnar Abbasi and Samaneh Moafi. Golnar is an artist/architect, researcher, and publisher based in Rotterdam. She is a founder and editor of Sarmad, and a co-founder of the collective of of cognitarians/makers WORKNOT! devoted to discussing precarities of living practices today through spatial interventions and research.  Samaneh is a  senior researcher at Forensic Architecture, Goldsmiths University London. Her practice engages historical and contemporary archives and is a cross between the scales of territory and the domestic. Golnar and Samaneh will join from their homes in Rotterdam and London, respectively.

Tania Candiani

Tania Candiani talks about her role as a storyteller and shares how her recent work “navigating” historical archives in New York City and elsewhere relates to developing a practice of listening that can unearth untapped, creative potentials.

Taylor Le Melle

Taylor Le Melle shares recordings, notes, and sketches of plants and architecture that resonate with their research period at Amant. The writer reflects on researching as a total system of daily activities that nourish the work.
