Valentina Ornaghi and Claudio Prestinari
(were born respectively in 1986 and 1984, Milan, Italy)

Working as an artistic duo since 2009 and developing each project through continuous dialogue, Ornaghi & Prestinari incorporate references from the worlds of design, architecture, and art history in order to reflect on “material culture.” For the artists, material culture refers to the relationship between human beings and objects as linked to histories of materials, design, industrial and artisanal production techniques, and consumer society. By bringing together representation, conceptual art, as well as personal life experiences, their research pursues its many potentialities and consequences.

During their residency, Ornaghi & Prestinari continue their work on the relationship to otherness and to touch in a physical, emotional, and philosophical sense, using materials and objects to explore the concept of transparency.

Their solo shows include Galleria Continua, Rome (2020); Galleria Continua, San Gimignano (2014 and 2018); Galleria Continua, Les Moulins (2018); MAMbo - Casa Morandi, Bologna (2017); and Magazzino Italian Art Foundation, New York (2016). In 2017, they presented a public sculpture for ArtLine park in CityLife in Milan, and won a residency to learn ceramics at Museo Carlo Zauli in Faenza, with a final show at MIC Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche. Group exhibitions include Fondation d’Entreprise Martell, Cognac, (2020); Rocca di Angera, Angera (2020); Kasteel van Gaasbeek, Brussels, (2019); MAAT, Lisbon (2018); Museum Voorlinden, Wassenaar (2016); Arte Continua, Havana (2016); Le Centquatre, Paris (2015); Palazzo Reale, Milan (2015).
