Amant New York, Fall 2026 resident Adelaide Cioni presents The Infinity Speech, a performance lecture built around a series of questions that may not have answers. Moving on the brink between logic and nonsense, the work touches on themes such as infinity, patterns, translation, and the human condition.

Drawing on Cioni’s longstanding relationship to language and translation, The Infinity Speech explores the unexpected connections that emerge between seemingly unrelated ideas. Images, observations, and speculative questions come together in a performance that playfully challenges some of the basic concepts and structures through which we make sense of our lives.

This program is part of the For Your Reference series, where our artists in residence share and discuss key references informing their ongoing research at Amant. Amant programs are always free.

Doors for The Infinity Speech will open at 6:45 pm on Wednesday, September 30 in Géza, located at 306 Maujer Street. RSVPs are encouraged but not required. Entry is first come, first served. To ensure an uninterrupted program, doors will close 20 minutes after the start time.

Adelaide Cioni studied drawing at UCLA, Los Angeles, and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Rome. With an MA in contemporary history and a master’s degree in Literary Translation, for ten years she translated American literature, including John Cheever, David Foster Wallace, and Lydia Davis, among others. Her work moves at the intersection of textile, painting, and performance. The constant elements at the core of her practice are drawing, an absence of narration, and a feminist approach. In recent years her practice has expanded into space, creating a dialogue with music and dance, in a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach. She is represented by P420, Bologna, and The Approach, London.
